| My 2010 calender of shots in and around Reno, NV. |
| Howdy, my name is Mitch Gritts. I ask everyone who reads this and is passionate about preserving the "wild" to please purchase a duck stamp. They cost next to nothing, and roughly 98% of the proceeds go directly to habitat preservation and rehabilitation. you don't have to hunt to have one, I don't, but I still buy them because they are the most efficient way to get money into conservation:[link] With all the formalities out of the way: I became interested in photography in mid 2007. At first I would occasionally go out and take some photos, but I didn't really know what I was doing. In 2008 I began to learn a lot more about photography, and that is when I took every opportunity possible to get out and take photos. In 2009 I have taken some large steps in my photography. I learned about light and composition and all that fun stuff. I also bought a car in May and have been driving around Reno, Nevada looking for good places to photograph; and since then, my dedication to photography has increased even more. I am mostly interested in landscapes and wildlife photography; I have always been longing for the "wild", and I constantly find myself out in the wild going to take photos. More recently I have become interested in macro photography, and portraiture. I am attending the University of Nevada, Reno. I am a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major and in my Junior year. I am lucky to live in the state of Nevada, a place that is often overlooked when considering photographic appeal. But there are so many places here that I have rarely seen good photographs of. I attempt to photograph these to my highest ability to reveal to others the beauty of Nevada. I am a Nikon guy, and because I am a poor college student I use sigma lenses.
